FAFSA Night

Need help completing the online FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) application for your college-bound senior? Join us on Tuesday, 10/24/17 from 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM at Deering High School, or on Thursday, 10/26/17 from 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM at Portland High School for our annual FAFSA help nights! Interpretation is provided at both events.

Portland High School Event 10/26: Acholi Arabic English French Khmer Portuguese Somali Spanish Vietnamese Filling out financial aid forms for college can be challenging for students and their parents, but even more so for families for whom English is not their native language. These events are designed to help multilingual seniors and their parents fill out the online FAFSA form.
The Deering High School FAFSA Workshop Night will be Tuesday, Oct. 24th, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in Rooms 309, 310, 311, 312, 313, or 314 at the high school. That workshop is open to all Deering High School seniors and their parents. The Portland High School FAFSA Workshop Night will be held Thursday, Oct. 26th, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in rooms G01, G02, G03, G05, G06, G07, and G08
of the high school. That workshop is open to all Portland High School seniors and their parents.

Here’s what students should bring to the FAFSA workshops:
*Both students and parents must secure an FSA ID each in advance of this event to be able to process their FAFSA. Please go to fsaid.ed.gov to secure an FSA ID for both students and parents.

1. Your social security number.

2. Your driver’s license (if you have one).

3. Your 2016 W-2 Form and any other records of MONEY.

4. Your parents’ 2016 Federal INCOME return (if you are a dependent)

5. Your 2016 untaxed income records (i.e. Social Security, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, Welfare, Veterans Benefits records)

6. Your current BANK statements

7. Your current business and investment information.

8. One of the documents below if you are not a U.S. citizen

9. YOUR High School Chrome Book

* If you haven’t completed your 2016 tax return, you can use your 2015 tax return to estimate your income. You will need to update your FAFSA when you have completed your 2016 tax return. It’s easy and you can get help to do so later in the year.
