WELCOME TO THE MULTILINGUAL & MULTICULTURAL CENTER

The Multilingual & Multicultural Center oversees language acquisition for K-12 language learners in Portland Public Schools who are learning English and those who are learning a world language such as Arabic, French, Latin, Mandarin, and Spanish. In promoting the district as a world language powerhouse and advancing our students’ acquisition of English and other world languages, we help advance the district’s vision of all learners to be fully prepared and to be successful in a diverse and ever-changing world.

Our Programs

We oversee English Language Development, World Language, registration for multilingual students, summer school programming, and Make It Happen! We also provide professional development for educators and language access services for families needing translation and/or interpretation.
